The Role of the Governing Body
The Governing Body works closely with the school leadership team, staff, pupils, parents, the wider school community and our Academy Trust. As governors, we are committed to supporting the school to provide the very best education and opportunities for every child.
Governors do not manage the day-to-day running of the school. This is the responsibility of the Headteacher and the school leadership team. Instead, governors provide strategic leadership, support and appropriate challenge while working in partnership with school leaders.
We meet regularly to review the school’s progress and priorities and to consider information provided by school leaders and the Academy Trust. Governors may also visit the school to gain a better understanding of its work and to see the impact of school improvement priorities
Our Governing Body provides local oversight, support and challenge. We work with the Headteacher and school leaders to:
- Support the school’s vision, values and strategic priorities;
- Monitor the quality of education and outcomes for pupils;
- Promote high standards of achievement and progress;
- Oversee areas such as attendance, behaviour, safeguarding, SEND and pupil wellbeing
- Monitor the school’s improvement priorities;
- Support and challenge school leaders appropriately;
- Ensure that the views and interests of our local school community are considered.
Our governors bring a range of skills, knowledge and experience to their roles. They are committed volunteers who act in the best interests of the whole school community while ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive, achieve their full potential and enjoy their time at school. We value the views of parents, carers, pupils and staff and recognise that strong partnerships are essential to the success of our school.
Above all, we want to help create a school where every child feels safe, valued, included and inspired to achieve their full potential.
We are proud to serve our school community and look forward to working together as we continue to develop and strengthen our school.
